Digital Agency under Administrative Guidance, Government Agency in Charge of My Number is under Guidance

According to the Mainichi Shimbun on September 20, the government’s Personal Information Protection Commission on September 20 issued administrative guidance to the Digital Agency under the My Number Law and the Personal Information Protection Law in response to a series of cases in which savings accounts receiving government benefits and other payments were mistakenly linked to another person’s My Number and registered. Judging that measures to prevent incorrect registration were inadequate, the committee asked the agency to report on the status of its response by October 31. This is the first time that the Digital Agency has received such guidance. This is the first time that the Digital Agency has been instructed by the government agency in charge of the My Number Law.
