Suntory to open Hakushu Distillery to the public in October

A room where visitors can sample the revamped whisky at the Hakushu Distillery in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

According to Kyodo News, on September 15, Suntory announced that it will renovate the tour facilities at its Hakushu Distillery (Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture) and open them to the public from October 2. Taking advantage of the half-century anniversary of the distillery’s completion in 1973, Suntory will offer a new tour of the distillery’s manufacturing process, allowing even more people to experience the appeal of whiskey. 　In addition to facilities that incorporate natural water and forests, which are indispensable for production, into the design and materials, a room has been set up where visitors can enjoy tasting whisky while gazing out at the forest. 　The number of visitors in 2024 is expected to be 167,000, an increase of approximately 10% from 2007.
