Chiba YouTubers Develop Software to Send Email Notifications of Children’s Arrivals and Departures from Kindergartens: “Free Safety” in Response to the Makinohara Bus Stoppage

According to your Shizuoka Shimbun on September 23, a man in Chiba Prefecture who was deeply moved by the incident at a certified child care center in Makinohara City last September, where a child was left behind on a bus to and from school and died, has developed a free e-mail notification software to inform parents of the arrival and departure of their children with images, with the aim of promoting the software. The man is Hiko Zorn, 41, a You Tuber who develops software as a hobby while working at his company. In response to the tragic incident, he wondered if there was anything he could do to help, and decided to make use of his area of expertise. Although he is not well known because of his personal development, he is looking for a school that will cooperate with his demonstration experiment, hoping to “provide safety at no cost.

In the incident, China Kawamoto, 3 years old at the time, was left behind on the bus on her way to school in the morning, and her homeroom teachers did not confirm her absence until she was discovered. Hiko Zorn began developing the system in reference to an overseas case that China’s father had mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) in March of this year. When the IC card carried by the child is held over a card reader, the face of the child is photographed and the image is sent to the parents via e-mail. It took about five months to develop the system.

The software itself is free of charge and can be installed with an Internet environment, a PC, a camera, an IC card, and a card reader, each of which can be purchased for 100-200 yen and several thousand yen, respectively. By focusing on a limited number of functions, a simple and inexpensive system has been realized. The name “Relica” is based on the word “relief,” which means peace of mind and relief.
