Otter” Brewing Company’s First Overseas Sake Brewery in the NY Suburbs…Aiming to “surpass Otter” quality with US-produced “Yamada Nishiki” and local water

According to the Yomiuri Shimbun on September 24, Asahi Shuzo (Yamaguchi Prefecture), known for its sake Ottersai, held a ceremony on September 23 to celebrate the completion of its new sake brewery in New York State, and will begin selling DASSAI BLUE junmai daiginjo at retail stores and restaurants in the state on September 25. It will be interesting to see if the overseas expansion of one of Japan’s best sake breweries will lead to an increase in the popularity of “SAKE”.

More than 400 people, including wholesalers and farmers, gathered for the ceremony on the 23rd. Hiroshi Sakurai, 72, chairman of Asahi Shuzo, said, “We would like to aim for a quality that surpasses the Japanese Otters while fusing the cultures of Japan and the United States.
