Which municipalities have the largest amount of Furusato tax donations? What kind of high-value returned goods and how much is the donation amount?
According to the September 19 Financial Field, many people are using “Furusato Tax”, which allows them to donate to municipalities outside of their own area of residence. This has become a popular program because most local governments offer returns and deductions for income and inhabitant taxes. In order to receive a large number of donations, many municipalities spare no effort to improve the quality of the returned goods and make them unique. Municipalities with the largest amount of Furusato tax donations
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) announced the municipalities that received the largest amount of Furusato tax donations in FY2022 in the “Results of Survey on Furusato Tax Payment”. No.1 to No.5 Miyakonojo City in Miyazaki Prefecture received the largest amount of Furusato tax donations in FY2022. The second largest donation was from Monbetsu City, Hokkaido, with approximately 19.4 billion yen. Incidentally, Monbetsu City exceeded Miyakonojo City in terms of the number of donations. Nemuro City, Hokkaido, came in third with approximately 17.6 billion yen, and Shiranuka Town, Hokkaido, came in fourth with approximately 14.8 billion yen. Of the top five, the second to fourth places were occupied by municipalities in Hokkaido, while Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture, came in fifth place with a donation of approximately 13.7 billion yen. Sixth place is Kaminomine Town in Saga Prefecture, with a donation amount of approximately 10.8 billion yen. Donations totaled approximately 10.8 billion yen. The town of Kaminomine is the only one that has donated more than 10 billion yen. In seventh place is Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, with a donation of approximately 9.5 billion yen; in eighth place is Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, with a donation of approximately 9 billion yen; in ninth place is Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, with a donation of approximately 8.8 billion yen; and in tenth place is Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, with a donation of approximately 8.7 billion yen.
High Value Returns and Donation Amounts
In this section, we will introduce some of the most expensive gifts, along with their donation amounts, and will also separate them into two categories: food and beverage-related and other. There are several municipalities that offer whole cows as a return gift. Kawasaki Town in Fukuoka Prefecture offers a whole head of Hakata Wagyu as a gift, with a donation amount of 12 million yen. Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, offers a whole head of Matsusaka beef as a gift, with a donation amount of 15 million yen. Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture, also donates 10 million yen and receives a head of Oyama Wagyu beef as a return gift. Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture, is offering 12 tons of Koshihikari rice produced in Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture, as a gift, with a donation amount of 20 million yen. Other food and beverage-related gifts include a 7-fruit set worth 2.8 million yen from Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and a 5-bottle set of top-quality wine worth 2.35 million yen from Nogata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Non-food and beverage-related High-priced non-food and beverage-related returns include a disaster recovery construction machinery set from Gokamachi, Ibaraki Prefecture. The donation amount is 350 million yen. Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, offers AEGIS, a multipurpose disaster prevention shelter, as a gift with a donation amount of 200 million yen. In Susaki City, Kochi Prefecture, a retired racehorse is a 150 million yen donation. Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, offers a vacuum tube amplifier as a return gift with a donation value of 147 million yen. Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is returning a car, the MCS ROADSTAR 7, with a donation value of 110 million yen.
