According to the September 25 Minnano Keizai Shimbun, Sakurao Brewery and Distillery (1 Sakurao, Hatsukaichi City) announced on September 21 that it will build a new theme park with a whiskey distillery in the mountains of Hatsukaichi City, tentatively named SAKURAO YOSHIWA WHISKY PARK. On September 21, the company announced the establishment of a new theme park, tentatively named “Sakurao Yoshikawa Whiskey Park. （The location is within the grounds of the “Yoshiwa Charming Village,” a tourist exchange facility. The facility had been operated and managed by Hatsukaichi City, but was closed in March of this year. The site covers an area of 50 hectares. The location and size of the site have yet to be determined. According to the company, the facility aims to attract whisky lovers and new whisky fans from Japan and abroad, with the aim of communicating and educating about the spirit of Japanese manufacturing and local culture through Japanese whisky. The investment is several billion yen, and construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025.
